AppliedIRC today performed a major upgrade of its IRCd package, InspIRCd. This involved the loading of many new modules, and thus introducing a lot of new features! Some of the most notable include:
* Connection throttling (to prevent against spam bot attacks)
* Introduction of various new channel and user modes
* Various bot detection techniques
* Reopening of port 6676 on all IP addresses.
Please ensure that you read server notices for any important information regarding connections, as we have changed our connection acceptance method. Your client should automatically handle the new system.
AppliedIRC is also pleased to announce the immediate availability of Logs Search - which can be accessed from the left-hand navigation panel whilst on any channel logs page! This system allows you to search up to one year of logs for any string - so you can find that all important piece of text.
We are also pleased to announce the first pages in our upcoming line of help and documentation pages - the
Channel Mode and
User Mode list pages! These pages detail the available channel and user modes on AppliedIRC - useful for both users and channel owners alike! We expect to develop more help and documentation, both on and off IRC, soon!
We would like to hear your comments and ideas on these new features and upgrades, and on the network in general! You can chat to us in #help via the Webchat on the left!
